Abstract

The differences in the desorption characteristics of desorption induced by non-thermal plasma (NTP) and by simple elevated temperature were investigated using temperature-programmed-desorption (TPD). For this study, NO2 adsorbed on a Mn-Cu mixed oxide was employed. Before TPD was performed, the samples were prepared in three ways: (a) using N2-NTP, (b) using elevated temperature, and (c) without using any treatment. It was found that NTP induced a greater amount of desorption of the adsorbed species that bonded to the surface strongly compared to simple heating. The results were attributed to the collision of some excited species that were generated in NTP and diffused from inter-pellets spaces to micro-pores.
