Abstract- Back corona discharge phenomenon on perforated dielectric layer was presented in the paper. A hypothetical distribution of electric charge on the dielectric surface neutralized during back corona discharge could be described as so called "ring of charge" spread around the perforation in the dielectric layer. A theoretical model of this phenomenon was proposed. The main aim of work was to determine the width of the discharge area, appearing as the result of accumulated electric charge on the perforated dielectric layer. Charge ring width calculated values were found to be always below the level of 100 μm. Influence of the layer geometry and its electrical properties on back corona discharge was analytically experimentally and checked.

Keywords-Back corona, electric charge, nonthermal plasma
