This special issue of the International Journal of Environmental Science and Technology (IJPEST) contains original papers taken from the best of those presented at the International Symposium on Electrohydrodynamics 2012 (ISEHD) held in Gdaナгk, Poland in September 23-26, 2012. This event has continued a successful series of symposiums held every two to three years in different countries (Canada, Italy, France, Argentina and Malaysia). The International Organizing Committee of the ISEHD was headed for a long time by Prof. Jen-Shih Chang, who passed away in February 2011. He was an accomplished scientist in many fields, including electrohydrodynamics. He authored and co-authored hundreds of papers that have become cornerstones of science. Many of the scientific accomplishments of Prof. J.S. Chang are the result of his leadership and broad international cooperation, in both Americas, Asia and Europe. The Members of the International Organizing Committee of the ISEHD 2012 decided to dedicate the Symposium to the memory of Professor Jen-Shih Chang.

57 participants coming from Japan, China, France, Poland, Germany, Canada, Russia, Italy, Iran, Ireland, South Korea, India, Slovakia, Spain, UK and USA attended the symposium. Their oral and poster presentations covered EHD of two-phase flows, gas flows, pumping and convection, aerospace applications, EHD atomization, electrification, electrostatic precipitation, EHD fundamentals and environmental applications. Through the thorough evaluation and reviewing process, several papers have been recommended for the publication in the special issue of the IJPEST. I hope you find them interesting and useful for your work.

I wish to thank the editor, authors and reviewers for their great contribution. I would also like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to the ISEHD 2012 Organizing Committee for its effort to make the symposium successful. I wish the organizers of the next ISEHD the best success in Japan in 2014.
